Growing Herbs

'What can be more pleasant to thee, than the enjoying of medicines for cure of thine infirmities, out of thy native soil, and country, thy field, thy orchard, thy garden' ?               Nicholas Culpeper

For as long as I've been gardening, I've been growing lots of different kinds of herbs. A garden without herbs, for me is incomplete, a bit like a jigsaw with a missing piece or a garden without a compost system.

On this page, I'm sharing a selection of some my favourite herbs, how to grow them, along with a brief description of their history, properties & culinary uses. For me, the possibilities & potentials of growing herbs in our gardens are both fascinating & endless. For example, what about using the herbs such as comfrey & nettles to improve & enhance the growth of flowers, fruit & vegetables? Or ever thought about growing your own organic herbal teas? Nothing better! And a taste far superior to the stuff that's been sitting on a shelf in a warm, over-lit supermarket for months on end. On this page my intention is also to share with you, the many possibilities of growing, choosing & using herbs for the benefit of our health & wellbeing.

To be continued!
