Late afternoon sunshine most welcome after a cold, damp, rainy start to the day! The extra sunlight through the polycarbonate studio roof at the bottom of the back garden means I can begin preparations for a couple of indoor sowings at the end of the week. 'Witkeim', a cold tolerant variety of Broad Bean & Sweet Pea, (Lathyrus odoratus), 'Winston Churchill', (sown last year at this time), giving a prolific display of gorgeous red blooms throughout the summer months, (although they were affected by late August winds, the 'sway effect'), & into early autumn). Using module trays for germination this year, (instead of recycled toilet roll tubes) as the dampness of the tubes created quite a bit of mould, which definitely wasn't needed during germination!
